We will be kicking
off our 2007 Vocational Service Project on Tuesday March 4th
with our Clothing Drive. Megan Klink from Working Wardrobes will
attend our meeting to collect your donations. Remember, that in
addition to business clothing for both men and women, men's
briefs and socks are also needed. Please bring an unopened three
or six-pack of either men's briefs or socks with you to donate
in addition to business clothing that you no longer wear.
The workshops will
begin on Saturday March 22nd. This year to avoid conflicting
with the resident's work schedules, the workshops will begin at
4:00 pm and end at 5:30 pm. We would like to have at least three
coaches to participate in each workshop. The topics of each
workshop are listed below. Please be thinking about which
workshop one you might be interested in participating.
The Success Day at
Working Wardrobes will be held on April 19th. We will need
volunteers to act as "personal shoppers" for our clients as they
choose their "working" wardrobes. The personal shoppers will
help fit the men and help match their accessories.
Click here for some photos of last year's Success Day.
Graduation will
follow the last workshop on May 2nd. All club members will be
invited and urged to attend as this is the culmination of our
efforts with this group of men. When the graduates see a large
gathering from our club at the event they receive a strong
message that we care about their future and what happens to them
after our workshops.
All of you will be
receiving weekly updates as we move through the project from
your Vocational Service Committee comprised of Patricia Bintliff,
Tim Brown, Laura Dietz, and Chuck Iverson. Our committee thanks
you in advance for you participation. Last year we had 41 out of
50 members directly involved with this project in some way. As
terrific as that was, we can do better, we can have 50 out of 50
participate. Please plan to get involved some aspect of the
project.
