We held our third Success Skills Workshop this past Saturday at the Salvation Army. The Success Coaches were Tim Brown, Laura Dietz, and Kareem George. We worked on refining the "Elevator Speech" through some role-playing. Laura and Kareem skillfully played  the role of a prospective contact. Also,  we began examining some of the important issues when filling out an application including work history, education, personal references and criminal history. Next week, all of our clients will return with a completed application. Our coaches will carefully review those application looking for "red flags." Then each client will then have the opportunity to rewrite his for the "Master Application" to be carried with them in their upcoming job search.

We had two clients leave us this week for the right reasons. They both graduated from the Work Therapy Program and both were subsequently hired.  We now have 12 and we are hoping for a similar success story for all of them as we move through of the Success Workshop series.

Next week's coaches are Chuck Iverson, Gordon Bagne, Kareem George, Laura Dietz, and Richard Hanki. In addition to reviewing the applications, we will begin talking about interviewing skills.

The Success Day at Working Wardrobes will be held on April 19th. Please mark your calendars for that day. We will need volunteers to act as "personal shoppers" for our clients as they choose their "working" wardrobes. The personal shoppers will help fit the men and help match their accessories. Click here for some photos of last year's Success Day. The event will take place from 9:00 am to approximately 12:00 noon. We would like every member of our club to at come by, even if only for a few minutes, to meet our clients. Chris Szechenyi has asked his hairdresser if she would volunteer her time and she has graciously agreed. If any of you know a masseuse who might be interested in donating his/her services, please let one of us know.

Graduation will follow the last workshop on May 3rd. All club members will be invited and urged to attend as this is the culmination of our efforts with this group of men. Again, please mark you calendar now.  When the graduates see a large gathering from our club at the culminating event, they are sent a strong message that we care about their future and what happens to them after our workshops.
