For the past 21 years, Dr. Tim Brown has
demonstrated his
interest in civic leadership and commitment to the
City of
Newport Beach through a number of endeavors.
He is currently serving as the Immediate Past
President and Vocational Service Chair for the
Newport Beach Sunrise
Rotary Club. Dr. Brown's term as President ran from
2009
-2010. During his term as President, the club
received a
Rotary International Presidential Citation
recognizing the
club's efforts in membership growth, financial
contributions to the Rotary International Foundation
as well as its local efforts in Community and
Vocational Service.
Dr.
Brown was inducted into the Daily Pilot Community
and Clubs Hall of Fame in 2011.
Dr. Brown has also served on the Parks, Beaches and
Recreation Commission for the city of Newport Beach.
He
served as the Chair from 2007-2008 and again in
2009-2010.
During his term as a Commissioner there were
several
significant recommendations made to the City
Council.
Since 1999, Dr. Brown has been a resident member of
the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. He was
elected to the Board of Directors in 2006 as a
Representative At Large. Dr. Brown
was elected President of the Civic Affairs Council
in May of 2009.
Dr. Brown also
served on the ad hoc Finance Committee for the city
of Newport Beach in 2006. The committee members were
appointed by the City Council to look at budget
projections 20 years out for needed capital
improvements and to determine whether the City could
afford to construct a new city hall.

In 2011,
Dr. Brown was honored by the NBCC with their Silver
Anchor Award given to a volunteer whose
contributions over time were extraordinary.
Dr. Brown served as
the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Leadership
Tomorrow for three consecutive terms. Leadership
Tomorrow is a program designed to help people become
more engaged their communities. In addition,
Dr. Brown served on the Aviation Committee for
District 2 in the city of Newport Beach from
1998-2003. During his term, El Toro Marine Base
remained a viable but controversial option for an international airport in Orange County.
Since 2003, Dr Brown has been an Associate with the
Upper Back Bay Naturalist and Friends. In this
capacity he served as a volunteer in the Peter and
Mary Muth Interpretive Center from 2003 to 2004.
Also, during the summer of 1999 Dr. Brown was a
member of the second graduating class of the Newport
Beach Citizen’s Police academy.
Dr. Brown served on the McFadden Legacy Square
Project
charged with commemorating the Newport Centennial at
this historic Newport Beach landmark. In addition,
Dr. Brown also served on the Executive Planning
Committee of the Corona del Mar Centennial
Celebration.
Dr. Brown has been a volunteer for the Corona del
Mar Scenic 5K and at the Newport Beach
Toshiba Champions Tour event at the Newport Beach
Country Club since its inception in 1994. He also
serves as a volunteer for the
Newport Beach Breakers.
